Direct Sales Tips: Holding Drawings at Events and Shows

When displaying your product line at a tradeshow or an event, how do you capture leads of the potential customers that did not make an order or purchase from you? Do you just have a sign up sheet? Do you ask people for their emails for a newsletter you promote? Do you hold a raffle style drawing where the people must put down their info and put it into your fishbowl?

Over the years I have tried many ways to capture leads for future sales and interest. I have tried my fair share of drawings and come to a conclusion of mixed emotions. Chris Carroll at directsalestalkradio.com believes that using drawings at a craft show is a profit buster.  I would like to agree with this, but as I said, I still have mixed feelings on this.  Once in a while, the leads you receive for a drawing like this can really turn out to be great for sales and downline building.

On the other hand, most of the time these drawings will not benefit your sales or downline.  Perhaps the way to compensate for this is to auction off very inexpensive products from your product line.  You probably won’t capture as many leads, but your profits won’t suffer as much as if you give away expensive items.
