Direct Sales 101: Our Simple E-course Lesson #1
When you decide to take part in a direct sales business the first steps are critical to your success so we have decided to write a series of posts that help one start off successful in a direct sales business. Becoming a direct sales consultant is a great step toward your financial independance and a great step toward owning your own successful business. The problem is… joining is the easy part.
The first few weeks are very important to your success or failure. These weeks are the ones where you need to create your business plan and put it into action. You must have a business plan. Let me repeat, you must have a business plan. If you do not treat your direct sales business as a business, it will not become a real business. If you are planning to treat your direct sales business as a hobby, then you will create a hobby income. On the other hand, if you treat your direct sales business as a business, you can create a full time income and a real business income.
Once you join a team in direct sales, ask questions. Ask your leader what they recommend as the first things to do when getting started. This person should be able to give you some hints and pointers as to what worked for them. We recommend that you write your business plan and your goals, as your first step.
Create a plan of action. If your goal is to create flyers to announce your new business, then write that down. Write down what you want that step to lead to… sales, leads, downline, etc. Here is what we recommend for your first two weeks as a direct sales consultant.
1. Write down your goals – specifically what you want to accomplish and how you plan to accomplish it. If your goal is to create $1,000 of commission income in the first month, write this down and then write down how many sales you will need and how you will be able to create those sales.
2. Create a business identity – create a name for your direct sales business. Create a logo or a brand that will stand out to your potential customers. This will show your customers and clients that this is your business and you are taking it seriously.
3. Tell people – tell your friends and family members about your business. The support of your friends and family will help you to become successful in direct sales. You don’t have to sell to your friends and family, but they will know people that will be interested in your products and can provide leads for you.
If you can accomplish these tasks and take these tasks seriously and work hard on them, you will be well onto your way to success with this direct sales adventure. Work on these for a solid two weeks and know that you are doing what will be necessary to ensure your success in direct sales.
